Postdoctoral Fellow/Research Scientist (Bioinformatics)

  • We are seeking a highly skilled and versatile bioinformatics researcher. The candidate will work with a team of scientists engaged in stem cell and tissue engineering research. Duties include but are not limited to: - Analysis of large molecular datasets such as microarray, genomic sequence, and proteomics- Problem analysis and establishment of effective computational strategies- Manipulation of publicly accessible, commercial, or proprietary genomic and proteomic databases- Creation of novel computational approaches, analytical tools, and databases as required by research goals- Development of a database of highly related sequences from NGS data- Assisting laboratory research when required
  • A PhD in Bioinformatics or related discipline
  • Experience in analyzing gene expression data from microarrays and RNA sequencing
  • Experience in analyzing NGS data
  • Fluent with R/Bioconductor, SQL, and Perl or Python
  • Track record of analyzing data and building networks for systems biology
  • Good communications skills and a team player

Postdoctoral Fellow/Research Scientist (Synthetic Biosystems)

  • Major project: “In vitro model for predicting hepatotoxicity of environmental and industrial chemicals”. This project is a collaboration with Environmental Protection Agency, EPA (USA) and will greatly enhance scientific knowledge and commercial application in the field of hepatotoxicity prediction.
  • Perform hepatotoxicity studies using in vitro 2D and 3D cell-based models related to pharmaceutical compounds, environmental and industry chemicals
  • Identify novel biomarkers for hepatotoxicants using transcriptome analysis
  • Be responsible for progress of the project and updates to the team and EPA
  • Ph.D. degree in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Toxicology or similar fields from highly reputable universities or institutes
  • Basic knowledge and experience with cell biology or molecular biology required

  • B.Sc. or M.Sc. Degree
  • Strong aptitude for summarizing data and generating reports and graphical representation of the data
  • Computational analysis of multi-parametric datasets. Ideally, you already have a strong background in math and statistics, and some experience with: Data reduction, Machine learning (supervised and unsupervised, including neural nets for image recognition), Image processing/image vision, Distributed data processing
  • You should know how to program and have a demonstrated experience programming. You are preferably experienced with at least a couple of the following languages/libraries: [R], Python, C++, Linux Bash/Shell, Java, GPU programming (CUDA, PyCUDA, [R] libraries), OpenCV, Javascript/HTML
  • You should be well organized and apply best coding and documentation practices
  • You should also have some knowledge of development practices, such as usage of SVN or GIT, test and production environments, etc.
  • You should be highly motivated to learn new skills and expand your horizons to different types of analyses and datasets

Postdoctoral Fellow/Research Scientist (Cellular Microenvironment)

  • Evaluation of normal/cancer cell phenotype and behaviour in response to different tailored microenvironments (nanotopography, 3D scaffolds), and probing the mechanistic basis for these behaviours. Changes in the stemness phenotype is of special interest.
  • Perform studies with normal/cancer cells in the development of novel cell substrates with potential for commercialization.

Lab Officer/Senior Lab Officer (Stem Cell)

  • The candidate will be involved in the development of an in vitro 3D/2D cardiomyocyte model for cardiotoxicity testing. The research will involve reprogramming of fibroblasts to induced pluripotent stem cells, differentiation of the stem cells to cardiomyocytes, and drug testing using the model. This project entails collaboration with other groups in the institute and clinical collaborators, with the end goal of realizing personalized medicine to improve patients’ lives.
